I am delighted to release Part 4 titled “WHY DO WE PRAY?” of the series “PRAYING WITH UNDERSTANDING”.
This question is often asked by youth and "successful" persons for various reasons.
It will be interesting if you could list out your reasons for why you pray or not pray before reading the article.
Please feel free to share it with me. I will, in turn, share interesting messages with all in the group after protecting the identity of the sender.
All this is from the point of view of learning and understanding.
Please forward this mail to your relatives and Jewish friends.
I will love to hear from you about this article. Please do make a point to let me know what you feel.
With Best Wishes
Raymond Jacob Ramrajkar
Comments:
Dear Mr. Raymond,
One more feather in your cap and I am sure you will come out with flying colours. Very meaningful article and it is written from core of your heart.
One of the hindi poets said and I quote, "Jo mukh se gaate hai, use geet kahate hai. Jo kanth se gaate hai, use vandana kahate hai. Aur jo rhidhaya se gaate hai, use prarthana kahate hai."
But nowadays reciting prayer in any place of worshi has become a fashion. We are selfish and pray only when we are in difficulties and in or order to overcome such difficulty, we pray. Students come and pray because they want success in their examination. A businessman prays because he wants prosperity in his business. Sometimes we pray as we wish that a ill person in our family recovers from his illness. But no one prays saying that God please teach me how to face the reality of life with courage and dignity.
"O! God, you have taught us how to fly in the air like a bird.
You have also taught us how to swim under waters like a fish.
But O! God kindly teach us how to walk on this earth in brotherhood."
