It is a celebration that brings families together at the beginning of the New Year. This festive meal includes a variety of foods of various names, shape or color which reminds us of our greatest hope for the New Year. By conducting the Seder and reciting the prayers with a full heart, one can arouse himself toward repentance for Yom Kippur day.

Going to Rosh Hashanah service does not have to be all serious davening only. As part of our service at the Cary Chabad Shul in NC, there is always some light fare that makes the prayer services much more memorable experiences. Let me share some of them with our Jewish friends.
ENJOY and remember to turn ON your sense of humor first ........
- "I still remember how uncomfortable I was during my
circumcision. It was terrible, I couldn't walk for a year after that"
The man continues, "Two months ago I lost my aunt who left me two million dollars". The rabbi is more confused, as the man continues; "last month I lost my dad and he left me three million dollars". The rabbi says " I am sorry you have lost all these close relatives in a short amount of time, but why are you so depressed?".
The man replies, I lost all these loved ones for
the past few months who left me thier fortunes, and this month .....
nothing !!!!"
- "The apprentice Israeli archaeologist was digging in the Negev Desert in Israel and came upon a casket containing a mummy, a rather rare occurrence in Israel, to say the least. After examining it he called Abe, the curator of the Israel museum in Jerusalem.
"I've just discovered a 3,000 year old mummy of a man who died of heart failure!" the excited scientist exclaimed. Abe thought, how much does this inexperienced scientist know to make such statements?. The curator replied, "Bring him in. We'll check it out."
A week later, the amazed Abe called the archaeologist. "You were right that the mummy is 3,000 years old and the cause of death was heart attack. How in the world did you know this?"
"Easy. There was a piece of paper in his hand that said,
'10,000 Shekels on Goliath'."
We know the recession is real when .......
.... I get a pre-declined credit card in the mail.
.... the economy is so bad even the CEO's have to play
miniature
golf.
.... when the bank sends back my bounced cheque - I have
to call them to find out if the insufficient funds was due to shortage
of funds in my account or the bank's.
Thanks to Rabbi Aaron and Mr Monty B. for their great sense of humor.
A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL CONGREGATIONS OF THE WORLD
